Do I need an account to try it?

Not for your first take. Open the app in your browser, press the red record key and read the passage: you get one free scored take on your device with no account. After that, a free account (no card) gives you 5 minutes of analysed speaking a month and keeps your progress and streaks across devices.

Which accents are supported?

sayit coaches toward clear, widely understood English and listens to speakers of every background. We test against Indian, American, British and European voices. You are scored on how clearly each sound lands, not on matching one single accent, so your own voice stays your own.

Can teachers and schools use it?

What is included in the free plan?

The free plan gives you real feedback on every sound, IPA on every word, and 5 minutes of analysed speaking each month, enough for a few short takes — the allowance resets at the start of every month. No card, no trial countdown. Premium lifts the limits and unlocks the full drill library and progress history.

Will I be charged automatically?

Never without choosing to. The free plan stays free, and you only ever pay if you upgrade to Premium yourself. You can manage or cancel a subscription any time from your settings. No phone calls, no dark patterns.

What happens to my voice recording?

Accepted Answer

To give you accurate per-sound feedback, your recording is sent over an encrypted connection to our analysis service and scored there. We never sell or share it. We do keep the recording with its scores, so you can replay any take, hear whether the same sounds keep slipping, and share a take if you choose. Delete any take from your recordings page, or your whole account from Settings, whenever you like. Whether recordings may also help improve our speech models follows your Settings toggle, as our privacy policy sets out: on by default for accounts outside the EU, UK and Switzerland, where you choose at sign-up, and you can switch it off at any time.

How is my data stored, and can I delete it?

If you create an account, your scores, history and recordings live in your private profile. You can export everything as a file, delete any single take from your recordings page, or permanently delete your account and all its data from Settings whenever you like. It is your data, and erasure is one button away.

Do I need an internet connection?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your recording is analyzed on our servers, so you'll need to be online to load the app and get feedback. It runs in any modern browser with nothing to install.

What devices and browsers do I need?

Any modern browser with a microphone. Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox on a laptop, desktop or phone. There is nothing to install. Just allow mic access the first time and you are ready to speak.

How accurate is the scoring?

Accepted Answer

Each word is marked by how clearly you said it, down to the individual vowel or consonant, and we deliberately soften genuinely uncertain calls instead of crying wrong. It is a confident, honest coach. Close enough to trust, never pretending to be a human examiner.

What is IPA, and do I need to learn it first?

Accepted Answer

IPA, the International Phonetic Alphabet, is the little symbol set like /θ/ or /æ/ that names each sound exactly. You do not need to know it going in. sayit shows the target and your sound side by side, so you pick it up naturally as a tool, not a chore.
